Across the river from Marco Island and to the north, you'll find the Isles of Capri. This small community with the romantic name offers idyllic allure to residents and visitors. Four mangrove islands amidst Johnson Bay, Tarpon Bay, the Marco River and the Gulf of Mexico, natural beauty surround these islands.
In 1955, L.L. (Doc) Loach searched for a tranquil setting for a fisherman's retreat. He purchased the four islands consisting of 700 acres and the Isles of Capri were born. Doc Loach connected the islands by dredging causeways and built a road linking the island cluster to the mainland. Canals and homes were constructed and a hideaway for fishing and boating enthusiasts was created.
Today you'll find the winding waterways provide wonderful boating opportunities and the abundance of trout, snapper, tarpon, redfish and Snook make the Isles of Capri a fisherman's paradise. Manatees feed in the grass beds, dolphins play in the bay, and ospreys and bald eagles soar overhead. Take a drive up State Road 951 just north of Marco Island and wander on down Capri Boulevard. You'll enjoy the quiet natural setting of the Isles of Capri.

Glades Haven is the west gate entrance to the Everglades National Park with 2.5 million acres, hundreds of creeks and rivers along with one hundred plus miles of Gulf Coast shore line. Located in Everglades City, Glades Haven Marina is the starting point of the 100 mile Wilderness Waterway route that connects to Flamingo. The Everglades National Park has marked the trail through the heart of the Park and is designed for self guided exploration. The Park has some of the best fishing in Florida and has the most isolated campsites in all of Florida.
The Village’s 50 fashion boutiques and shops and five restaurants are perched over the waters of Venetian Bay, and shoppers walk between shops in open air hallways with fountains, awnings and seating. The center was established in 1987, and was one of the first buildings to use Mediterranean architectural style in Naples.
The tiny community of Goodland, located off State Road 92 at the southeast corner of the island, offers visitors a laid back charm unlike any other place in the region.
The stillness of the village, where cats and dogs can be found napping in the streets, changes drastically on Sundays when hundreds of residents and visitors make the pilgrimage to Stan's for an afternoon of outdoor music, drinks and dancing.
Johnny Roberts is believed to have founded Goodland in the late 1800's. He named it Goodland Point because it featured a 40-acre shell mound left by the Calusa Indians that was ideal for growing fruit and vegetables. It was also a great location to fish. Roberts would later sell his squatter's rights to Samuel Alexander Pettit, around 1890.
